Howard I. Shapiro & Associates Consulting Engineers, P.C. is proud of its staff of experienced engineers and technicians for their proven aptitude, their understanding of day to day as well as esoteric aspects of design, construction and fabrication. Our broad range of completed assignments have encompassed heavy engineering construction including bridge construction and repair, steel and concrete high-rise, power plants, schools, airport structures, institutions, sports facilities and heavy rigging. We have provided application engineering for cranes and derricks of all types, as well as for monorails, gantries, and special lifting equipment. With most of our activity centered in New York City, we have become adept at providing solutions for high structures, constricted sites and urban settings.
With the growing demand for architectural preservation and the exigencies of city construction, the firm has developed expertise in scaffolding, shoring and stabilization. Among hundreds of more mundane assignments, the firm has designed scaffolding and shoring for a significant number of landmark buildings.
The firm is at ease with foreign crane codes and equipment, having had more than 35 years of assignments with foreign crane manufacturer clients, and a number of foreign projects from London to Barcelona to Kuala Lumpur.
In keeping with its founder’s legacy, the firm continues its civic commitment by maintaining an active participation in codes and standards development.
